Jim Tolstrup - is the Executive Director of the High Plains Environmental Center in Loveland, CO. Jim's past work experience includes serving as Director of Shambhala Botanic Gardens and Preserve in Red Feather Lakes, CO and running his own landscape design business in Kennebunkport, Maine where he installed gardens at George and Barbara Bush's "Summer White House." Jim holds a certificate in gardening arts from Harvard University, he has written numerous articles on gardening and environmental stewardship for various publications, and is a past recipient of Denver Water's Xeriscape Award and ALCC's Excellence in Landscaping Merit Award. Sarah Fox - is the Community Outreach Director at the High Plains Environmental Center (HPEC). Prior to joining HPEC, Sarah was a Senior Environmental Planner and Business Outreach Coordinator for the City of Fort Collins. In addition, Sarah has worked as an ecologist, global climate change scientist and a high school science teacher. She holds a Bachelors of Science in biology and a Master’s of Science degree in atmospheric science and ecology. Sarah is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accredited professional, a member of the Colorado Green Schools Initiative, the Northern Colorado USGBC, and the Northern Colorado Children and Nature Connection. Randy Olson - Adjectives to describe Randy are similar to those used by the big auto makers to describe their work trucks, durable, all-purpose and built tough. Randy’s past work experience includes working as a landscape foreman installing landscaping and irrigation, working in retail garden centers and as a service technician. Randy also has specific training in weed management, coordinating volunteers and first aid. Randy’s is the member of the HPEC staff that you are most likely to meet on out on our trails. His cheerful, enthusiastic and capable nature makes him an approachable nature guide and a dependable protector of public safety in emergency situations; a classic Park Ranger.
